FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about extracting images from PDF files.

How does client-side PDF image extraction work?

The tool reads PDF operator streams directly in your browser using PDF.js to locate embedded XObject image bitmaps and exports each graphic in its native resolution without re-rendering vector page layouts.

What is the difference between extracting images and converting PDF to image?

Converting renders an entire page layout (including text, backgrounds, and margins) into a single image. Extracting pulls out only the standalone photos, charts, and illustrations embedded inside the document.

Are my confidential files uploaded or saved on external servers?

No. The entire process takes place strictly inside your local web browser memory. Your documents and extracted pictures never leave your computer or phone.

Why are some tiny icons or bullet points filtered out by default?

The default filter excludes images smaller than 80x80 pixels to avoid saving decorative bullets, spacer pixels, or tiny UI icons. You can select 'Extract All Images' to pull every bitmap.

Can I extract images from specific pages only?

Yes. Choose 'Custom Page Range' from the page selection dropdown and enter specific page numbers or hyphenated ranges like '1-3, 5, 8'.
